To Infinity and Beyond!

Not many people know this, but we live with a superhero.  Yep, he's the real deal.  At any point in time he's running through our house, throwing things (that supposedly have the ability to fly) and hollering, "To infinity...AND BEYOND!"  He stands on the bathroom cabinet every night to brush his teeth.  And when he's finished and preparing to "fly" off the cabinet, you hear once again..."To infinity...AND BEYOND!"  He's none other than the fearless space ranger, Buzz Why-cheer (Buzz Lightyear).

This is a rare photo of Buzz's off-duty garb.  Even space rangers have to sleep!  His official Buzz Lightyear suit cannot be revealed until Halloween, whereby it may be worn anytime thereafter.

*Buzz Lightyear is a fictitious character of the Walt Disney Company.  Toddler not intended to save the universe from the evil emperor Zurg.

Sweet little man

We are having so much fun with Isaac these days!  I couldn't ask for a sweeter little boy.  He is still the most loving big brother to Gracie and still kisses her about 20 times a day.  At any point in time, Gracie has signs of "Isaac kisses" on her head -- anything from snot with the runny nose he's had lately or dried cheese from his mac-n-cheese.  But Gracie doesn't know if there's snot on her head or not, and she loves her big brother and often smiles when she sees or hears him.  He gives her tickles, makes sure that she has her pacifier when she needs it, and he doesn't go to sleep or take a nap without telling Gracie "night, night."  And he doesn't like it when Gracie is upset -- we love the way he says "It's okay"...a combo of southern accent and Buckwheat.

One thing we've especially enjoyed is Isaac's language development lately.  He's started adding "Mommy" or "Daddy" in his sentences to address us specifically when talking to us -- "Tractor, Mommy, tractor." (when pointing out something he sees) or "Watch football, Daddy." (when he wants to do something).

We've also gotten a kick out of his understanding of word meanings.  He's gotten the concept of "more" and even uses the word when the appropriate word should be "other" or "another."  Some of his cutest phrases using the word...
-(When pointing to the two lamps on our end tables)  "Lamp.  More lamp."
-(When playing with his two footballs)  "Football."  Then pointing to the other... "More football."
-(When pointing out Gracie's facial features)  Pointing to one eye..."Eyes." Then pointing to the other... "More eyes."
-(When walking down the stairs)  Walking down one step... "Stairs."  Then as he progresses down the stairs... "More stairs."

He repeats just about everything we say and he giggles and laughs all the time.  It's really a neat thing to see him catch on to things.  Today he told me "Bless you" after I sneezed.  :)

I love watching him play at this stage.  He loves to play catch or throw balls and run after them.  Unfortunately, he likes to do this in the house, so we've had to designate his "outside" football.  And it's such a joy to see his understanding of life and human interaction affect the way he plays.  This afternoon he told his Buzz Lightyear "night night" and gave him a kiss and hug before taking a nap.  And yesterday he fed his pop tart to his toy puppy dog and teddy bear that he sleeps with.

He's full of energy and I love it!
